Since the inception of Firemill Pizzas we have been fortunate enough to have very positive media attention. Whether that has been through charity work, supplying Firemill produce to local initiatives and farm shops, through to featuring in Society Magazine and the Press & Journal as a new start business.

Society Magazine, Press & Journal, September 2021

The highlight of 2021 was our nomination for “Best Pizza” at the Scottish Italian Awards where, alongside other incredible businesses, we cooked off against one another for the title of “Best Pizza in Scotland”. We may not have won, but the mere fact that Firemill were representing the north-east of Scotland at such a prestigious event was a huge coup for us! And a great learning opportunity. Aldo Zilli seemed to love our pizza so that was prize enough!

Local Initiatives to Eliminate Waste

We are also fortunate to work with, and support, some amazing local initiatives. The Deeside Food Hub is a regular customer of Firemill and many other amazing local producers of food and produce. We hate waste at Firemill so everything we have left from our fortnightly pizza weekends are cooked or prepared for freezing. We have a range of frozen goods including dough and margherita and pepperoni par-baked pizzas. We also supply our amazing San Marzano tomato sauce and pizza making kits!

Winning Prestige Awards “Best Pizza Takeaway, Scotland” in 2022/23 and 2023/24

We were very privileged to have won the Prestige Awards “Best Pizza Takeaway in Scotland” in both 2022/23 and 2023/24. The first year we attended a very glitzy ceremony but this year, due to work commitments we just had our gong-equivalent posted! These awards are based on customer feedback so thank you to everyone who took time to say some lovely things about us!!

Winners of Italian Awards Best Pizza in Scotland & UK Italian Pizza Championship 2023

We were stunned this year to win the Scottish Italian Awards “Best Pizza” prize for 2023. The winning pizza was a beautiful fresh “mortadella pizza bianca” with bechamel sauce, three cheeses, toasted pistachios, rocket, fresh basil, garlic infused extra virgin olive oil and lemon zest. We knew it was good – but we were amazed to be honoured with this title. And it didn’t stop there – we were then pitched against the England and Wales winners of the same title – to be crowned UK Italian Pizza Champions for 2023. Recognised on this massive stage and being invited to join the UK team at the World Championships in Palermo (Sicily) in 2024, really was the icing on the cake of an amazing year.
